I’m finally settling in at a brand new studio and the great news is… its not mine!
Why is this great news you ask? Well, it’s simply because the man who owns it runs the other part of the art studio business…. FRAMING! That’s right, when you are finished painting your masterpiece see Dan (the owner) for the finishing touches… a beautiful frame.
Please note that Wednesday July 15 will be a drink and paint session. 35.00 gets you a 16×20 canvas, easel, paint, brushes, palette, and instruction to create a beautiful beach sunset.
Each Wednesday I hold a class from 6-8pm for those who want to learn more about art. Any kind of art. If you bring your own supplies the cost is only $15.00. For those of you who are new to painting or who don’t want to bother with supplies you can use mine however your cost will be $25.00. Either path you choose I will be available to guide you in whatever medium you choose to explore. Pastels, Acrylic Paint, Oil Paint etc…. whatever you need to learn I can guide you.
Just give me a call at 401-300-6036 so I can sign you up!
I look forward to teaching you some skills to work on so you can grow your art talent!
Here it is, a few days before spring, and the wind is howling like a wild animal through the cracks of my windows. Maybe it’s because of the pond. All I know is that I have never had such a case of cabin fever in my entire life until now. This winter has afforded me many opportunities though so I am thankful for that. I created my new home studio filled with all my favorite things and added another bedroom onto my home. My daughter has come back to live with me and all is well.
Although my studio name has changed to THE RUSTY PALLETTE my artwork remains the same. Unique, twisted, and strange.
After closing the final chapter in my YA Novel, synopsis written and three chapters sent out to Agents, I begin a new story. We could all use a new story right?
So with that said, keep your eyes peeled for pix of my new studio. I’m still perfecting it however I will leave you with the images below to help you imagine where my next project is taking me.
Its been at least a month since I wrote and painted but during this time a lot has happened. The first was an email notifying me that THE STORY EMPORIUM won BEST OF 2012 – “The best place to hear a children’s story” and I have to say I am honored! It is listed in the August RI Monthly Issue. Along with this great news I have been invited to be a guest on a Boston TV show to read to children which I am VERY excited about and in addition to that, I have been contacted by The Rhode Show for a day at THE STORY EMPORIUM! Such great things coming about, now if I could only get there LOL.
This summer I got a chance to teach in Boston and I have to say I had a wonderful time. That being said I would like to get some workshops going at The Story Emporium. I attempted to in the past only to get overwhelmed, however having a chance to teach elsewhere reconnected me with my love for teaching so I am eager to get some workshops going.
I am updating THE STORY EMPORIUM website and workshops now that I have internet access again so keep your eyes open and please, if you were disappointed before because a workshop cancelled don’t worry, things are in better order now and the workshops will be absolutely WONDERFUL.
I would like to end this post by thanking everyone who has followed and supported my art and writing in one way or another. It’s because of you that my career is flourishing.
Sincerely my friends…
I have put another painting on THE STORY EMPORIUM wall, this one is of The Dusty Butterfly who plays quite a large role in “A Trashy Novel” – my latest book that is in the editing stage… hooray! While writing this novel I thought I would never see the end of it but finally after years of thinking and percolating ideas then 2 years of putting it together I finally have the evidence of a finished piece of work. When I wrote and illustrated my three picture books the same process took place where I felt hopeless and couldn’t finish. I have to say the novel was the worst of all four books when it came to the ominous feeling of complete and utter doom that I would never reach the end. The great part is the more I wrote it and got to know each character and how they all related to each other the plots twisted into each other naturally and a real world full of fantasy blossomed and came to life. What a feeling of accomplishment! All I have to say at this point in the process is I truly hope you come to love and enjoy the characters I created and get lost in the world I created for them. If you do then I can happily say, I’ve done my job.
Thank you everyone who follows my work and especially those who pass the word on about it to their friends. It’s through you that my work becomes known and enjoyed by others and to be quite honest is what makes the many hours of creating worth it.
Please feel free to visit my studio any Saturday at http://www.thestoryemporium.org and see what my latest creations are.
Until next time…. keep creating!
