High Anxiety Painting

Mmmk…. now she is in the tub and I have added some bubbles and a little hair under it. The process of what to put on the painting next is giving me anxiety and I don’t think that is the emotion I was looking for when starting these mixed media pieces. I am going to go ahead and finish this piece up then post it and hope I get some kind of input from my readers. I know there are only 3 but any input helps right?

I am also continuing on my verbal abuse painting and then onto my third that I am going to post right after this one. The third is a modern day mom and all of her worries for her children growing up in this world in the state it is in. (If you can’t tell, I’m a high-strung nervous Mom…LOL)
Well, hope to hear from someone soon.
Thanks again for taking the time from your day to read.

Painting

I am happy to say even though I was nervous about putting oil paint onto my mixed media canvas I survived it! I actually had a blast! I can’t wait to do the other one I posted below this one tomorrow. I still have to sit this woman in a tub with bubbles all around her. The idea here is she is trying to de-stress in a nice hot bathtub.

Still Exploring Mixed Media

Last night I sketched this sad girl in my sketchbook. I guess it was reflecting my inner feelings. I had just argued with my ex-husband who constantly makes me feel less than I am. He is and always was very harsh with his words and last night he just reminded me of how bad I always used to feel when I was around him. This is one of my first mixed media pieces and I have to tell you it is a wonderful process. I am really enjoying it and can’t wait to get to the oil painting part of it tomorrow after the coat of gesso dries! Please remember when you speak to others how your words affect them. Words are very strong and one of the most dangerous weapons in our arsenal. Use them with care.

A piece of Art!!!

Good Morning. Yesterday, I finally put a piece of mixed media art together. I am incorporating my ‘crazy’ lady sketch into it and will be oil painting her with some new paint sticks I am trying out. (Thank you Kelly Rae Roberts for the inspiration) Here is the first stage of the work. Nothing is glued down or gessoed yet but the general composition is put together and I must say, it is a great feeling to have started something I am excited about. I am really enjoying the process of the collage. The theme here is the state of the USA is in. “Chaos” In Kelly’s book “Taking Flight” she encourages you to go with what your ‘whispers’ are saying to you. Well, I am going more with the shouts my soul is yelling at me when I see the state of our country today as I watch the constitution disappear. I never really took too much notice in politics but how can you not right now? It is affecting everyone so deeply. I was really affected when I saw some of my writer friends not being able to speak about their own book’s subject when being invited to a school! It was about a holiday!!! So much for freedom of speech and diversity we used to celebrate in America. And to think… this is only the beginning. So sad. Anyway, I digress…. here is stage one of my newest piece of art. Stage 2 will be up later today. Thanks for Reading!!!!!

Almost Thanksgiving

Hello world….

Here it is almost Thanksgiving and I haven’t even come close to my original New Years goal of sketching of every day. The good news is I am an optimist!!! You see, I look at it like this… if I never started this blog I would never have paid so much attention to my artistic side. I started the blog mainly because I have become more of a writer than an illustrator/artist and that was bothering me. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE writing because its like putting a puzzle of thoughts together. VERY challenging. But I got so wrapped up in it all I lost my art. I love my art. I always have. It got me through some extremely challenging times in my life. (Although writing did too) The point I am trying to make here is that I need to strike a balance between my art and my writing. I have just finished a wonderful book called Taking Flight by Kelly Rae Roberts and I must tell you it has re-awakened my artistic side. I am grateful to her for writing it and recommend any artist that misses their art should read it. VERY INSPIRING
I will try my best to get some artwork up today. If not then definitely some time this week.
Thanks for reading!!!

I started coloring my new webpage. The rocks on the left will be links. The rest is still being worked out. The entire illustration comes from my new YA / kids novel. I will reveal more as I go but until then you’ll just have to wait!

sketched yet another…

Wow I am on a roll… I sketched 2 days in a row! I knew I could be consistent. (Now if I can only keep it up) This one here is a sassy girl character. I am going to keep designing the page around her and add more detail but I wanted to get this much up on the blog to show you I’ve been sketching. It’s funny – since I have been down and out with a hurt back I have learned to have patience and my drawing is coming much easier. Perhaps this injury was a good thing this summer. At least I can try to look at the bright side of things right?

Conservative and Still Sexy

Here is an image I sketched today to add to my sexy conservatives collection. Just a pencil sketch is all but I sure had fun doing it. It makes me wonder why I haven’t stuck to my sketch routine better.

My Etsy Creations

With all my new ideas brewing while being injured,  I have set up a store on etsy and am selling unique things like jewelry and artwork and sometimes both combined. I really enjoy expressing my art on things other than paper and books. You can check out my etsy store at erinesque.etsy.com I have some fun stuff there.
I have sketched on and colored a wooden box that I will be making into a purse or whatever the buyer has in mind for it. ( It could be a pencil box or even a jewelry box… the possibilities are endless!) I have posted the pictures as I have done them in progression. If this looks like something you or someone you know would be interested in purchasing or even if you think a friend of yours would like this item with different art just drop me a line and I can can custom make you one from my etsy store.

Hello once again. I have spent the past three months in my bed due to some bulging disks so I have not been able to produce much. It has been tough being laid up like this but it also has given me a plethora of new ideas to work on. When I sit physically still for too long my mind doesn’t and I go on these amazing journeys in my mind only to come back to reality with so much new material to work with!
The first sketch in this post is the continuation of a drawing I had posted earlier.
First off here is the continuation of my project I had previously posted ( to the right )
This project is a very exciting one for me because it is actually an  illustration of my YA novel I have been working so hard on. I am contemplating on making this book a digital one with an option to order a paperback. It just seems so much more intricate when my readers can virtually enter my made up world. I am not too sure if this is in fact the route I will be taking but the possibility of it is quite good. I do not have a web designer as I do all of the graphics and stuff myself I like to have total creative control so the learning html part is holding me back a bit. Who knows, I may give up and hire a web designer to work with me so I can get it created and out to my readers more quickly because truth be told they have been waiting for this follow up novel from the Charlie’s Head books forever. Feel free to comment and let me know what you think about the direction of this project. Your feedback would be so helpful and VERY much appreciated.
